FR. CONSTANTIN ALECSE
AT THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF PRIESTHOOD
(Christmas Day, December 25, 2006)
Born on February 21st 1951, in Dambroca-Sageata Village, Buzau County, Romania. Parents: Enache and Anica Alecse. Married to Elena (born Tanase), teacher. Father Alecse has four children: Cristian Constantin, Marius Thomas, Gabriella Emy and Anne-Claudia.
Elementary School. Elementary school in the Village of Dimbroca, Sageata commune, Buzau County - Muntenia.
Seminary (1965-1970). The Orthodox Theological Seminary "Bishop Kesarie" in Buzau-Romania.
University Studies (1970-1974). The Theological Institute of Bucharest.
Diploma - He graduated with the thesis: "The Bible, Tradition and the Church in the Orthodox, Protestant and Catholic Theology ".
Post Graduate Studies (Ro) - (1974-1976). Doctorate courses in theology, at the Bucharest Theological Institute, under the guidance of the famous Prof. Dr. Dumitru Staniloae, professor of Dogmatics.
Post Graduate Studies, England . In 1976, passing the exams requirements to qualify for scholarships for studies abroad, and/or be considered a candidate for a priestly position abroad, theologian Constantin Alecse was awarded a scholarship at the Theological Department, London University (England). At the same time he was appointed to occupy the deacon's position at St. George's Romanian Orthodox Church in London.
Ph.D Theses Project : Under the guidance of the Cannon A.W.Allchin, dean of the Anglican Cathedral of Canterbury and chair of the Theological Department at London University, Father Alecse began to prepare his Ph.D. thesis on the subject: "Concept the Incarnation of the Son of God, in Anglican Theology, from the sixteenth to the twentieth century."
Ordination to Holy Deaconate : On 29 November 1976 Constantin Alecse was ordained to the holy deaconate by + His Grace Bishop Lucian Florea Fagarasanu, then Bishop of Paris (France), for St. George's Romanian Orthodox Parish in London, England, hosted by St. Dunstan's in the West Anglican Church (184 Fleet Street, London, England).
Ordination to Holy Priesthood. On Christmas Day, 25 December 1976, Fr. deacon Constantin Alecse was ordained to the Holy Priesthood by the same hierarch, for the same church “St. George's Romanian Orthodox Church”, London.
Distinctions . As a parish priest of the above-stated Church, Father Alecse was also appointed as "Official Representative " of the Romanian Orthodox Patriarchate to dr. Donald Coggan, Archbishop of Canterbury, Church of England.
In this capacity, Father Constantin was awarded by His Beatitude +Justinian, the Patriarch of Romania, the title of " Iconomus Stavroforos ", thus becoming the youngest priest abroad awarded such a distinction.
Honorary Chaplain to Church of England. In 1977, Dr. Mervyn Stockwood, Suffragan Bishop of Southwark (South London Diocese), named Father Alecse “Honorary Chaplain of the Diocese of Southwark, Church of England.
As a representative of the Romanian Patriarchate to the Archbishop of Canterbury, and Honorary Chaplain of the Diocese of Southwark, Father Constantin Alecse participated in many ecumenical services, preaching Orthodoxy in many Anglican Churches and attended conferences, symposia and ecumenical gatherings in England.
Immigration in USA . In 1980, being accepted by +His Eminence, Archbishop Valerian under His Omophorion, The Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America (ROEA), Father Constantin Alecse emigrated to the USA, at the beginning of March 1980.
St. Paul, MN . From March 1980 to September 1982 Father Constantin served as parish priest of St. Mary's Romanian Orthodox Church in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Los Angeles, California . In September 1982, Father Alecse was transferred to Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church in Los Angeles, California, to the Office of Parish Priest, office held ever since.
Dean of The Pacific Coast Deanery (ROEA). In April 1985, Father Constantin Alecse was elevated to Protopresbyter (Dean) of the Pacific Deanery within the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of America, by Bishop Nathaniel (Popp).
