IMO Fr. Deacon Vasile Simonca

 

On the morning of Wednesday, September 29, 2010, the father deacon Vasile (Basil) Simonca passed away, in a tragic accident in the State of North Carolina.

 

Father Basil Simonca deacon was attached to Holy Trinity Parish in Los Angeles, Cafilornia, in 1996 .

 

Basil Simonca was born on 9 April 1955 in Sibiu, Romania. He attended the elementary school, high school and professional school of arts in Romania.

After the High School graduation, he entered the Theological Institute in Sibiu.

 

Immigrating to Italy in 1980, and reached America in September 1982.

 

In October 1986 he married Cristina Chavez, who accepted to be converted to Orthodoxy. The Simoncas were blessed with three daughters: Isabella, Monica and Theresa.

 

In September 1992 consecrated deacon High His Grace Archbishop Victorin, for the Romanian parish of Sts. Archangels in Torrance.

 

In February 1996 was attached to Holy Trinity parish in Los Angeles.

 

In 2000, he enrolled for courses in theology at St. Stephen's Antiochian Seminary, in Englewood, New Jersey.

 

In 2003 deacon Basil moved to Colorado, but remains affiliated with Holy Trinity Church in Los Angeles. In the State of Colorado he had served, both in the Romanian Orthodox churches, and other pan-Orthodox churches in in the area.

 

Fr Deacon Simonca's lifeless body will be transported to the "Romanian Hearth" ("Vatra Romaneasca") in Jackson, Michigan, where he will be buried in the cemetery of "St. Mary", on the Feastday of Sts. Andronicus and Prov (whose holy relics are placed for veneration in the Church "Holy Trinity"), on October 12, 2010.
