HIS EMINENCE NATHANIEL POP ON A PASTORAL VISIT TO MONTREAL
From 14 - 24 April 2006, His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel, D.H.C., Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese in America (USA and Canada) – OCA will pay a pastoral visit to Montreal, to all the churches under his canonical jurisdiction.
On 15 April, on Lazarus' Sunday in the Orthodox calendar, His Eminence Nathaniel, accompanied by a group of priests and deacons supervised by Archpriest Constantin Tofan, Director of the Archdiocese's Mission at “Vatra Româneasca”, will ordain theologian Daniel Ungureanu as deacon, during the Divine Liturgy celebrated at the Romanian Orthodox church of “Saint Nicholas”, in rue Delisle. The liturgical answers will be given by the chorus of the church of “Saint Nicholas” conducted by engineer Marius Magazin.
The ARCOLA Ladies' Committee will give a fasting dinner for the event.
During the 12 years of activity, the Romanian church of “Saint Nicholas” in Montreal was visited by its hierarchs as follows: His Eminence Nathaniel visited it in May 1999 and December 2000, and His Grace Assistant Bishop Irineu Duvlea in 2005, at the anniversary of 10 years since its foundation.
Daniel Ungureanu was born in 1975, in Brasov city, where he has also attended the secondary studies. From 1993 – 1997 he attended the courses of the Faculty of Theology of “Andrei Saguna” in Sibiu and in 1997 he graduated the Faculty delivering the thesis “The Spirituality of the Triodus Period”, drafted at the Liturgics chair under the supervision of Rev. Prof. Dr. Liviu Streza, today's Metropolitan Laurentiu of Transylvania.
The Parochial Council headed by Eng. Victor Gheorghian, the Ladies' Committee headed by Prof. Elena Neacsu, the faithful of the church of “Saint Nicholas”, the family of the future deacon and the parish priest, Prof. Dr. Cezar Vasiliu invite all the Romanians in Montreal to this event in the life of the church.
