FATHER VIRGIL ANTON

(Ordained November 30,1994)

Father Virgil Ion Anton was born on December 23, 1970 in Viseul de Sus, Maramureş, Romania. His parents: Ion and Maria Anton.

He received his theological education at the Theological Seminary in Buzau, 1986-1990 and the Faculty of Theology in Bucharest (1990); and the Faculty of Theology in Iasi (1990-1994).

Virgil Anton married Carmen Mihaela Danila on September 17, 1994, in Romania, having a daughter, born in Romania, Ana Maria.

In 1994, Virgil was ordained to the Holy Priesthood in Iasi, Romania, at the St. Andrew Church. From 1994-2000, he served the parish of St. Nicholas in Hlipiceni, in the Botosani County.

On June 23 2000, Fr. Virgil, his wife and daughter, being sponsored by the Holy Trinity Church, immigrated to the United States, within the "reunification of the family" immigration program; his parents, grandparents, brother-in-law and sister (Fr. Anton and psa Ana Antoaneta Frunza) being already established in Los Angeles, California, also sponsored by the Holy Trinity Church.

With a canonical release letter from His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel of Iasi, upon his petition, Fr. Virgil has been soon accepted under the omophorion of His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel, and placed under the authority of the local dean.

Therefore, soon after his coming into the United States, Fr. Virgil and his family, became very involved in the Holy Trinity parish life, helping the church in whatever capacity they were called upon to serve; It goes without saying, that Fr. Virgil served in the Pacific Coast Deanery - parishes and missions - himself making trips, and serving wherever the dean commissioned him, and at Holy Trinity, when the dean had to make such deanery trips to the deanery's parishes and missions.

Initially, on a more permanent basis, Fr. Virgil - supported by the then Fr. dn. Bill Clark - served the English speaking faithful of the parish's chapel - as a chaplain to the Holy Descent Romanian Orthodox Chapel, within the Holy Trinity Parish, for almost 2 years.

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel, in August 2002, the dean had established a new mission in San Diego CA, having the 1st service on September 14, therefore, His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel named this newly established mission "The Elevation of the Holy Cross".

Meanwhile, on April 16, 2003, Fr. Virgil and psa Carmen Anton, were blessed with another daughter, Ashley Stepanie Anton, who was Christened on Saturday, June 21, 2003, at the Holy Trinity Church.

Upon retirement of Fr. Bill Clark from serving the Descent of the Holy Spirit Chapel, and moving to Arizona (March 31, 2004), Fr. Virgil was commissioned to transfer from the Elevation of the Holy Cross Mission in San Diego back to the Descent of the Holy Spirit Mission in Los Angeles, where he continually served up-to-present (April 2006).

His present status is of "attached-priest" to the Holy Trinity Church, in Los Angeles, California, and "chaplain of the Descent of the Holy Spirit Chapel" in Los Angeles, CA.

As of present, on the "family level", Fr. Virgil goes through, what could be conventionally labeled as a "reconciliation" of some family matters' situation, created independently of Fr. Virgil's will.

Meanwhile, Father Virgil continues his ministry within the church, also the fatherly care to his daughters, hoping that, through the American justice system, the truth will prevail in his family's situation.
