Annual Lenten Pan-Orthodox Youth Rally

Dear Reverend Fathers, Sunday School Directors and Youth Advisors:
We invite you and your young people from grades 6 to 12 to participate this year in our annual Lenten Pan-Orthodox Youth Rally from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at St. George's Antiochian Orthodox Church at 2098 Benson Ave., Upland, CA 91784 (phone: 909-985-6844) under the auspices of the Southern California Orthodox Clergy Council. We thank Father George Manneh and his parishioners at St. George's for hosting the Lenten Youth Rally this year. Our parishes in the Southern California area try to plan two inter-Orthodox events for our young people every year--the Bible and Church History Tournament on the first Saturday of December and the Lenten Youth Rally in the spring.
These events enable our Orthodox young people to grow in their faith and to get to know the other Orthodox youngsters from our sister parishes. This year our Lenten Youth Rally falls on April 1st, the day before the Sunday of St. John of the Ladder. Our theme this year is "Love Conquers All—I Corinthians 13:8”. We are honored to have as our two keynote speakers Kyra Pelachik, St. Luke's Parish Youth Director and Southern California Deanery Youth Coordinator for the Antiochian Archdiocese, and Pete Sotiras, the Youth and Family Ministries Director of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco. The Lenten Youth Rally is free of charge including lunch! Please make copies of the attached flyer to distribute to your 6th to 12th grade young people at Sunday School and at your youth group meetings. Please also include the enclosed flyer if possible in your monthly bulletins for March and April and in your Sunday bulletins. We look forward to seeing you and your young people for this exciting get-together!
